Labour Relations Board Complaint

The following was distributed by email to KFA members on August 9, 2010:

To all KFA members

Over the past year we have kept you informed on ways in which our abilities to bargain a new collective agreement and to represent your rights have been impeded by the positions the employer has taken in regards to the University Act and the powers of Senate. The problems were compounded when the discussions between the parties in May 2010 failed to achieve a protocol agreement in advance of bargaining itself.

On Friday, July 30, 2010, the KFA submitted a complaint to the Labour Relations Board of BC alleging that our employer has engaged in unfair labour practices and violated Sections 6(1) and 11 of the Labour Code. The employer was to have responded by August 13, 2010, but they have asked for an extension until August 31, 2010, which we have granted.

If you wish to see the complaint, please get in touch with me or the KFA office. I am also happy to answer any questions you may have.

We will keep you informed of any further developments.
